Cutting-and-Pasting HTML Code

Many of our clients use third-party software to create the HTML for the emails they send out through our system. After creating or writing their own HTML, users can simply cut and paste the raw code into our Edit Template interface, on the 'Source' tab screen. Users can even cut and paste formatted text straight from a Microsoft Word document and paste it in our interface's 'Edit' tab screen.

Unfortunately, this sometimes has an adverse effect on the functionality -- and therefore the readability and response rates -- of our clients' emails. Frontpage, and Macromedia Dreamweaver all create great HTML code... for web pages. Email browsers are often more sensitive to minor imperfections or superfluous code than internet browsers. Whenever possible, our users should use our Edit Template HTML editor (specifically designed to create emails) to build and edit their emails.

Pasting text directly from Word can also have adverse effects on the readability of emails. Quite a LOT of extra code is passed along when pasting text from Word... extra code than confuse email browsers and get mails blocked by email servers. However, the solution to this potential problem is simple. Just use 'CTRL-D' (instead of CTRL-V) to paste the text into the 'Edit' screen on our HTML editor. This will eliminate most of the problems caused by pasted MS Word text.

But again, our users should use our HTML editor to add or edit this text. Our HTML editor boasts most of the features of MS Word and even the HTML software discussed above. In the long run, this will save time for the users and ensure the widest possible readability and the highest response rates possible.

Customize Your Registration Pages

One of the newer features of Internet Mail Manger is the ability to fully customize the look-and-feel of your subscriber maintenance pages (registration, unsubscribe, survey, and update pages).

Keeping a consistent style is an important factor when coordinating your business' various branding efforts. Our page-customization feature is quite complete -- allowing account administrators to specify the colors of the background, fields, title bars, and the lettering. You can choose the font, upload a logo, and add links back to your website or whereever you'd like.

For more information on how to customize these pages, contact us by clicking here.
